German, Frenchmen, Japanese and US citizens are the tourists, who most often chose to have a rest in the Romanian seaside resorts, helping the incomes from tourism activities in the country reach EUR 1 B annually.

UK Companies to Hire Bulgarian Agriculture Workers

A total of 1,500 unemployed Bulgarians will take part in a Bulgarian-British employment project in the agriculture area, Darik News Reported. The representatives of ten UK employment agencies will select their new employers on Wednesday and Thursday in the towns of Russe, Razgrad, Targovishte and Silistra. After the companies shortlist the candidates, two groups will be formed. The first groups will take off to the UK in the beginning of autumn and the second will go to the island in the beginning of 2008. The workers will be paid EUR 7,60 for every hour of work. All of them will be accommodated in apartments and they will work 40 hours a week. The event is a result of the close cooperation between the Bulgarian and British national employment agencies.

Bulgaria To Spend EUR 500 M on Road Repairs in 2008

Bulgaria will spend EUR 500 M on repairs to its road network in 2008, double the amount allocated for this year, Regional Development Minister Assen Gagauzov said on Sunday. The money will be used to restore between 2,500 and 3,000 kilometers of roads, Gagauzov told reporters. Gagauzov opened a 4-kilometer road stretch linking the village of Zlatar to a neighbouring monastery, some 20 kilometers south of Shumen in western Bulgaria

160 MILLION EURO FOR BUILDING AMUSEMENT CENTRE RUSE

A commercial and amusement complex worth 160 million euro will be built in Rousse if the city’s municipal council accepts a proposal by Kubus. A total of 5000 new jobs will be created after the completion of the project. Kubus plans to acquire 15.4 hectares of municipal land and build a large number of shops, restaurants, children’s playgrounds, a cinema, a bowling hall and a casino. To complete the project, Kubus said that it was ready to pay a good price for the plot in Rousse’s Lagera district. Kubus is headquartered in Vienna and has already built a similar commercial and amusement park in Bratislava.

CROSS-BORDER NETWORK

More than 200 completed questionnaires with profiles of non-profit organisations in the Bulgaria-Romania trans-border zone have been collected under the BRAVO project by the Open Society Club in Rousse. The project is intended to build an interactive network on the internet for searching for partners using given parameters, such as area of activity and region. The main purpose of the BRAVO project is to make non-profit organisations working in the area of social and economic development, key partners in cross-border co-operation. The project seeks to help identify local needs, propose solutions to common cross-border problems and establish efficient partnerships between the Danubian regions of the two countries. The project is co-financed by the PHARE programme.
